Diane M. Philips

Diane Philips is the staff attorney for the Innocence Project at UVA Law, which seeks exoneration for wrongfully convicted people in Virginia.
Philips graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a B.A. in English literature and political science. In 2020, she graduated from the Law School, where she was a member of the Innocence Project and Criminal Defense clinics, director of the Virginia Law Prison Project, a legal writing fellow and an executive editor of the Virginia Law Review. After graduation, she clerked for Justice William C. Mims on the Supreme Court of Virginia and Judge Lisa M. Lorish on the Court of Appeals of Virginia. Philips is a member of the state bars of Virginia and North Carolina.
