Laura E. Howell

Laura Howell is director of admissions for the University of Virginia School of Law. Prior to joining the Office of Admissions, she was an assistant attorney general in the Alabama Attorney General’s Office for seven years in Montgomery, Alabama. There, she worked in the Constitutional Defense Division, handling trial and appellate civil litigation of state statutes. She was named a Supreme Court Fellow for October Term 2016 by the National Association of Attorneys General.

Howell received her B.A. in history and political science from the University of Alabama, where she graduated magna cum laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She received her J.D. from the University of Virginia. In law school, she served on the editorial board of the Virginia Tax Review and as chair of the Student Bar Association’s Admissions Committee.
