Elizabeth Leverage Hilles ’92

Elizabeth Leverage Hilles received her B.S. from Duke University in 1989 and her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1992. After graduating from the Law School, she became a litigator at McGuireWoods in McLean, Virginia, and then practiced wealth management and estate planning at Covington & Burling and Ivins, Phillips & Barker in Washington, D.C. In 2004, she joined the University of Virginia’s Office of Gift Planning and in 2006 joined the Law School Foundation, where she served as director of trusts, estates and gift planning until early 2015. After briefly practicing nonprofit and estate planning law at McGuireWoods in Charlottesville, she has returned to the Law School Foundation as senior philanthropy adviser. Since 2006, Hilles has also lectured in trusts and estates, estate planning, elder law and nonprofit law at the Law School.
