  • Staff Attorney, Innocence Project at UVA Law

Serena Premjee manages the Virginia Innocence Project Pro Bono Clinic, the student pro bono volunteer effort for the Innocence Project at UVA Law. After graduating from Stanford Law School, Premjee worked as a trial attorney at the Federal Defenders of San Diego Inc., where she represented indigent clients charged with immigration offenses, international drug trafficking and other serious crimes. Before coming to UVA, Premjee clerked in the Western District of North Carolina.

The pro bono clinic seeks exoneration for wrongfully convicted people in Virginia. Premjee advises students as they investigate cases, write briefs, and speak with and visit clients, witnesses and other key people in the case.
