“My year at UVA Law, a school known for its distinguished history and academic excellence, was truly a rewarding experience.

“Each course was sophisticated and intellectually engaging. I was especially fortunate to take classes with Professor [Greg] Mitchell. His classes were filled with humor and warmth, and they sparked a deep intellectual curiosity. This interest led me to undertake an independent research paper, for which he graciously provided valuable feedback. In the legal writing class, Professor [Karen] Moran provided thorough and constructive comments, which improved our writing skills. Also, whenever I visited her office hours, she always welcomed me, and our conversations motivated me in my overall legal studies.

“Life in Charlottesville, surrounded by natural beauty, added to the richness of my experience. I had the pleasure of spending time with legal professionals from around the world, and together we created lasting memories — playing various sports such as softball and tennis, and enjoying sauna sessions followed by refreshing dips in the river.

“Sharing this journey with my wife, who was also enrolled in the LL.M. program, made the year even more meaningful. Experiencing life together deepened our appreciation of the community we became a part of.

“Although it was my first time living in the United States, I never felt out of place. The University provided exceptional academic and personal support throughout the year, helping me settle in and focus on my studies. I am deeply grateful for the friendships, education and memories I gained at UVA Law.”

“My experience at UVA Law has been incredibly rewarding. From the start, I was impressed by how open everyone at UVA was, and over the course of the year, I saw how this spirit runs throughout the school. Current students and alumni, including many who graduated years ago, are approachable and willing to connect, offering advice and support whenever possible. The integration between J.D. and LL.M. students has also been a real highlight, with J.D.s being extremely open to building friendships and including LL.M.s in the broader life of the school.

“Outside the classroom, student organizations play a big role in organizing interesting events that enrich both the academic and social experience. Academically, I appreciated the flexibility to build my own schedule and explore different areas of law, rather than being limited to a specific concentration or practice area. The professors were not only leaders in their fields but also very approachable, and always willing to connect outside the classroom and offer guidance.

“Charlottesville, with its university atmosphere and natural beauty, made the experience even more enjoyable. On top of all that, being part of UVA Law means joining a community with a strong reputation for excellence and a degree that is highly respected. The stunning buildings, harmoniously integrated with the surrounding landscape, inspired me every time I passed by, boosting my motivation and enhancing my desire to learn. The tranquil surroundings provided a calm atmosphere that greatly supported my focus on academics.

“Academically, participating in classes with J.D. students encouraged more advanced and diverse discussions, deepening my understanding of the subjects. The professors were always approachable and generous with their time, offering helpful guidance during both class and office hours, which allowed me to engage with the material more thoroughly.

“The safe environment, where nature and architecture are in harmony, provided an ideal space for study, and this was one of the greatest aspects of my study abroad experience.”

“My classes with Professor Pierre-Hugues Verdier expanded my understanding of global politics and the role of law in shaping economies, and my coursework with Professor Kevin Kordana was both enjoyable and enriching. The leadership course with Professor Jim Donovan was one of the best experiences of the year. I had never before seen a group of students so eager to participate in the discussions.
