Friday, April 5, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Join the Virginia Journal of Criminal Law for its annual symposium, Involuntary Manslaughter for Another's Suicide: Theories of Causation and Culpability. VJCL has brought together scholars from across the country to discuss the recent Michelle Carter decision, where a woman in Massachusetts convinced her boyfriend to commit suicide with text messages and has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter. Themes discussed surrounding the case will include causation, freedom of speech and moral culpability. Keynote will be delivered by Professor Stephen Morse of the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. Food will be provided.
