Women in Public Service Event

Students are invited to join Virginia Law Women for their annual Women in Public Service event. The event consists of two panels at 5:15 p.m. followed by a keynote adress at 6:15 p.m. in the Purcell Reading Room.
- Starting Strong: Beginning Your Career in Public Service, WB102. Panelists: Claire Blumenson, executive director and co-founder of School Justice Project; Sarah Buckley, trial attorney in the Environment and Natural Resources division, DOJ; Vivian Kim, assistant U.S. attorney, District of Columbia; and Cassie Powell, staff attorney at Legal Aid Justice Center.
- Private Pathways to Public Service, WB101. Panelists: Sarah Hall, staff attorney, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission; Lisa Lorish, assistant federal public defender, Western District of Virginia; Jennifer Nelson, staff attorney, Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press; and Kristi O'Malley, assistant U.S. attorney, District of Maryland.
The keynote address will be delivered by Sarah Baker ‘04. Baker is the president and executive director of We The Action, a digital platform used by thousands of lawyers nationwide to volunteer with leading nonprofit organizations. Baker previously served as associate counsel and special assistant to President Obama in the Office of the White House Counsel. Reception to follow keynote address.
