CAIR Coalition Training for Pro Bono Volunteers

Friday, October 25, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

CAIR Coalition visits the immigration detention facility in Farmville, Virginia to provide adult detainees with general information about the detention process, their legal rights and options for fighting deportation. Volunteers, accompanied by staff attorneys from CAIR, conduct legal intakes for new detainees, deliver follow-up messages and documents, and assist with legal education presentations and other tasks as needed. Spanish-speakers are highly desired, but a certain number of slots are available for non-Spanish-speakers as well. No prior legal/immigration law experience is required.
All interested students must attend this training before they can visit the detention center with CAIR Coalition. Lunch will be provided with an RSVP through the Events tab on Symplicity by Oct. 23.
