Homophobia and the Meaning of Discrimination in American Law

ACS, VELLA and Lambda Law Alliance will host Anthony Kreis, visiting assistant professor at Chicago-Kent Law, for a discussion of recent Title VII decisions concerning whether sexual orientation employment discrimination claims are cognizable under federal law. Kreis argues that lesbian, gay, and bisexual employees' discrimination claims are viable under Title VII's existing framework because, in part, the historical development of American law reveals that homophobia is a form of sexism. Lunch will be served.
