The Ele(Q)t Project for LGBTQ Leadership — pronounced “elect” — is organized by Lambda Law Alliance at the University of Virginia School of Law. The nonpartisan symposium event is an afternoon-long series of panel speakers, discussions and workshops focused on motivating and training young LGBTQ leaders to run for political office. The event aims to include speakers who currently hold elected office and those who have significant political, campaigning or election law experience.
Virginia Delegate Danica Roem, the first openly transgender Virginian elected to state office, will deliver the keynote address at 6:30 p.m. Dean Risa Goluboff will introduce Roem at 6:30 p.m. in Caplin Pavilion. All students, faculty and alumni are invited to attend.
Sponsored by Lambda Law Alliance, the UVA Queer Student Union and the UVA Office for Diversity and Equity.
