Seminar in Ethical Values (YR)
Schedule Information
Course Description
This seminar will be devoted to Herman Melville’s Moby Dick. A masterwork of American literature, this book has everything: revenge, obsession, free will, nature, insane bosses, diverse workplaces, chowder, and whales. We will explore all this and more. Our fall sessions will be devoted to reading and discussing the novel itself. In the spring, we will read other works that reflect or adapt some themes of Melville’s novel. The course assumes no prior experience with Melville or Moby Dick. It is designed for students who would like to read this great American novel before they finish school.
