Schedule Information

Enrollment: 12/12

Course Description

This is the first semester of a yearlong seminar designed to enhance students' understanding of ethical issues and address the broader ethical and moral responsibilities of the lawyer as citizen and leader.  The seminars are graded on a pass/fail basis; students earn one credit in the spring semester upon successful completion of the seminar.

We will discuss a variety of issues facing higher education in the United States, such as cost and debt, the purpose and viability of the liberal arts, race, the status of athletics and athletes, sexual assault, and the goals and roles of students. The readings will generally focus on colleges or universities, but our discussions will include law schools when they face similar issues.
