Environmental and Regulatory Law Clinic
Students in this semester-long clinic will have the opportunity to work closely with attorneys at the Southern Environmental Law Center on a range of activities related to the protection and restoration of natural resources and the environment of the Southeast. Additionally, students and the instructor will represent non-SELC clients in other matters. Student activities will include performing legal research and analysis, conducting factual investigations, drafting comments on state or federal agency regulations or permits, drafting briefs or other pleadings, participating in meetings with agency staff, legislators or other officials, and participating in other proceedings.
*Yes means professor requires everyone in the course to submit a substantial research paper (which is the requirement standard in Academic Policies), so no paperwork required to be submitted to SRO. No means student must timely submit paperwork to SRO if intending to use a paper in this course to satisfy the Writing Requirement.
**Yes indicates course credits count towards UVA Law’s Prof. Skills graduation requirement, not necessarily a skills requirements for any particular state bar.
