Course Description

Enrolled students who do not attend the first class session will be dropped. Students seeking to enroll in this course must attend the first class session.The seminar will cover advanced readings in intellectual property policy. We will review issues and policies such as IP’s desirable duration, the desirable scope of the exclusive rights, sequential and cumulative innovation, empirical evidence and experimental IP law scholarship, pending IP law reform, and alternatives to intellectual property rights (such as rewards, subsidies, governmental support for commercialization). Students should be at ease with the economic approach to law, although no previous knowledge is assumed or required.
