Course Description

This short course focuses on public equity investing and related company analysis. The course is designed to give students a practical understanding of how professional equity investors at large investment firms analyze companies and make investment decisions. Topics to be covered include: the difference between good businesses and bad businesses, how companies create value, return on invested capital, the practical side of forecasting and DCF valuation, growth investing, value investing, understanding the customer perspective and the use of investment frameworks.

Written Work Product: Students will turn in a 5 to 10 page written stock recommendation via EXPO (deadline to be announced)

Prerequisites: Corporate Finance (or relevant work experience) is strongly recommended, but not required. Students should also be comfortable creating and using relatively simple Microsoft Excel spreadsheets Concurrencies: None
