It’s summer—that time of year when thousands of law students flood law firms, nonprofits, government offices, and judicial chambers to take up summer-associate positions and internships. In last June’s column, I shared some ideas for giving feedback to new legal writers. But teaching is about more than just passing on specific knowledge; it’s also about inspiring and motivating the student to keep improving. So this year, I want to share an educational concept that will help your interns and summer associates develop as writers and lawyers: the growth mindset.
