John Barr has nearly 23 years’ experience focusing his practice on all aspects of employment relations including unionization issues, employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, workplace safety, breach of contract, unfair labor practice charges, benefits and other statutory and contract claims. He has vast experience representing employers before numerous federal and state courts, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, the United States Department of Labor, as well as various state administrative agencies. Barr has represented clients in numerous trials and has argued and won motions for summary judgment as well as other dispositive motions in federal and state courts around the United States.

In addition to his law practice, Barr currently serves as an adjunct professor teaching employment law and labor law at the University of Richmond. As commissioner of Virginia’s Department of Labor and Industry, Barr was responsible for administering and enforcing Virginia’s OSHA program, wage payment law and child labor laws.
