The Albemarle County Adult Education ESOL Program offers general English classes with year-round registration for beginner- to advanced-level students. The program also offers beginner-, intermediate- and advanced-level daytime classes in communications skills and TOEFL preparation classes. The ESOL Program has also received recognition for "The Web Project."

This summer camp serves chronically ill children ages 7-17, providing a rustic outdoors experience with 24-hour medical care. Volunteers are needed for gardening, landscaping, maintenance, clearing, construction, clerical chores and general labor.

Computers4Kids

Computers4Kids is a nonprofit after-school technology mentoring program for underserved middle and high school youth. The YMCA offers aerobics for adults and seniors, martial arts for adults and children, and basketball for children. Fees vary by activity. The Y offers a full-time care center for preschool-age children as well as a summer camp and a ski program for youth. It also administers the city swim team. Call for details.
