Elson Student Health Center

UVA Health Sciences Center
Jefferson Park Avenue & Brandon Avenue
Box 378, Charlottesville, VA 22908

The health center is for students only, not family members, who can still be treated at other facilities. Services consist of general outpatient medical care, including specialty services in gynecology and mental health. When necessary, Student Health will refer patients to physicians in other specialties. Regularly enrolled students are not charged for office visits, but clients must pay for lab work, medicine and supplies. The staff can help determine what type of payment needs to be made at the time of visit and may send a copy of your insurance information to Clinical Laboratories in the Medical Center for insurance filing. If you don't want an insurance claim filed, you may pay a discounted price at Student Health. Counseling is available for students and their families. Small group sessions are offered on personal development, career issues, stress management and school pressures.
