Course Description

This course is geared towards giving the student instruction and practice in presenting a case at trial. The course will follow two simulated civil trial cases over the course of the semester, with students split into two teams (plaintiff’s counsel and defendant’s counsel). Each student will learn and perform all aspects of a trial, including Jury selection, Opening Statements, Direct Examination, Cross Examination, Expert Witness Examination, Objections, Closing Arguments, and presentation and admission of evidence. Class time will be broken down into (i) instruction; (ii) student practice and performance; and (iii) team discussion/preparation.
