Course Description

This short intensive course seeks to offer students a highly selective introduction to the legal and political systems of the People’s Republic of China. Time permitting, the course will introduce such topics as the structure, history, and ideology of the PRC regime; dispute resolution; and the law and politics surrounding sensitive policy areas such as foreign investment and intellectual property. Case studies will be used to explore the tension between what Chinese law says and how the Chinese government actually operates.
