Legal Observer Training, 10:30 a.m.-Noon
Legal observers serve to hold police accountable by acting as the eyes and ears of the legal team. Working under the supervision of a lawyer, legal observers document the actions (and inactions) of law enforcement agents toward people protesting, marching or otherwise expressing their First Amendment rights. This training will cover legal observing at protests, marches and other actions. Anyone who is able to take detailed notes can learn to be a legal observer.

Lunch, Noon-1 p.m.

LO Coordinator Training, 1-2:30 p.m.

LO coordinators (LOCs) are experienced legal observers who coordinate a small team of LOs at an action. LOCs (with the support of other LOCs in the chapter) have roles to perform before, during and after an action. This training will cover LOC responsibilities and protocols. All LO experience levels are welcome to attend.

Note: You do not have to attend both trainings, but you do need to be trained as a legal observer before you can attend the LO Coordinator Training.
