Join SBA, DVP and VLW for a discussion about the current obstacles that sexual assault survivors face when seeking justice and potential avenues for reform. This panel will highlight the hurdles posed by the criminal justice system, discuss current Virginia statutes on sexual assault and explore possible avenues for reform. The panel will also discuss the challenges posed by using Title IX as a means to justice, the proposed changes to Title IX and the potential effects of such changes. This event will feature Areshini Pather, Charlottesville’s deputy commonwealth’s attorney, and Katherine McGerald, executive director of SurvJustice. Lunch will be provided.
