Peter D. Lyons

Peter D. Lyons is senior counsel in the New York office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, whose practice focuses on U.S. and cross-border public and private mergers and acquisitions. He served as U.S. managing partner for four years and global co-head of the corporate group.
Lyons represents leading U.S. and global companies in acquisitions and sales of public and private companies, asset acquisition and disposition transactions and joint ventures. He advises clients across a range of sectors, including financial services, healthcare, biotechnology, telecommunications and transportation. He has been recognized as a top M&A attorney in the U.S. by in-house counsel and peers in Expert Guides: Best of the Best and recommended as a leading M&A practitioner by many publications, including Chambers & Partners.
He currently serves on the board of directors of American Axle & Manufacturing, Inc. He is a member of the faculty and planning committee of the Tulane Corporate Law Institute and the board of editors of The M&A Lawyer.
Previously, Lyons was a partner with Shearman & Sterling and former head of its Global M&A group. He teaches Transactional Approach to M&A at the Law School.
