Kelley J. Kornell
Kelley J. Kornell is the assistant director of graduate studies at the University of Virginia School of Law. In that role, she provides personalized career advising and programmatic support for Master of Laws (LL.M.) students and implements community-building initiatives.
Kornell has over 15 years of experience in higher education, specializing in academic and career advising as well as program development and management. Prior to joining the Law School, she was the administrative director of degree programs in economics and finance at Johns Hopkins University’s Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, D.C., where she played a pivotal role in launching and driving the growth of the Master of Arts in International Economics and Finance (MIEF) degree program.
While at Johns Hopkins, Kornell provided individual and group career advising workshops for students; established and advised the MIEF student leadership committees, including the International Finance and Economics Review, a student-run, peer-reviewed journal; and supported the economics and finance academic community.
Kornell holds a Master of Arts in international public policy with a specialization in Middle East studies from Johns Hopkins University, and a Bachelor of Arts in history with a concentration in intelligence analysis and research from Notre Dame College, where she graduated magna cum laude.
In addition to her professional work, Kornell actively contributes to community initiatives, including volunteering as a teacher in the Republic of South Africa, volunteering with the Anacostia Watershed Society and completing the American Red Cross 15-Mile Swim Challenge.
