D. Ruth Buck

Ruth Buck joined the faculty in 1988 as co-director of the Legal Research and Writing Program. Prior to entering law school, Buck published several articles and lectured extensively in the field of emergency medicine. In her third year of law school at Virginia, Buck was a finalist in the Lile Moot Court Competition and won the Stephen Pierre Traynor Award for Excellence in Appellate Advocacy. After graduation, Buck practiced in the litigation section of Neely & Player in Atlanta, handling cases ranging from personal injury and contract disputes to securities fraud. During 1986-88, Buck served as assistant director of the Committee on Continuing Legal Education of the Virginia Law Foundation. She also served on the faculty of Piedmont Virginia Community College.
