Christopher Corts
Christopher Corts joined the UVA Law faculty in 2026 after serving as a visiting professor during the 2025-26 academic year. He previously was a professor at the University of Richmond School of Law. Corts researches, teaches, speaks, and writes about abstract legal theory and skillful lawyering. In 2024, he received the University of Richmond’s Distinguished Educator Award.
Prior to joining the Richmond Law faculty, he practiced law as a member of the Appellate Practice and Trial Support Group at Carlton Fields in Miami. He holds a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and a master’s degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the International Jacques Ellul Society, the United States Tennis Association, Actors’ Equity Association and the Screen Actors Guild.
Corts’ academic interests include professional identity formation; soft skills for lawyers; law’s theoretical relationship to force, coercion and violence; and the spiritual well-being of lawyers.
