Our last column focused on using AI tools like ChatGPT to brainstorm ideas and generate text for first drafts. But you can also use AI to help edit text that you've already drafted. Shorten and simplify your writing AI tools can help streamline your writing. You can ask these tools to simplify or shorten your sentences-or you can make specific asks, like bringing the writing level down to a certain grade level. In the fall, you'll write three objective memos of increasing complexity in which you'll analyze a legal question to gauge the strength of your client's potential legal claims. In the spring, you'll use your skills to advocate your client's position before a (fiction- al) court-both in writing and orally.
